Just in time for the company's 15th anniversary, the Chinese manufacturer Meizu presents the Meizu 15 to the smart-phone market. In times of ever-growing displays, 18:9 formats and stylish notches at the top of the screen, the manufacturer presents itself refreshingly conventional and fills a small niche that other suppliers have largely ignored in their frenzy about design and screen size. Equipped with a media-friendly 16:9 format and a powerful processor, the Meizu 15 is also affordable for the tighter budget.
Super AMOLED display
A visual feature of the Meizu 15 is the 5.46 inch display. Especially the ladies and people who prefer smaller smart everyday companions will appreciate this format. Due to the compact format the smart-phone lies well in the hands. However, the Chinese manufacturer's device is only really convincing when it is switched on. Connoisseurs will recognize it at first glance: A high-quality Super AMOLED panel has been installed here, which is also used in Samsung's flagships and excels through its high contrast and high colour fastness. Digital content is played back with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Due to the compact size of the display, a pleasingly high pixel density of 403 ppi is achieved. Games and films present themselves from their best side on the Meizu 15.
Well equipped for the future
Although the display is the most obvious feature, the rest of the interior also plays an important role. And here, too, the manufacturer acted according to the motto: "Do things in a bigger way!" With the Snapdragon 660, the Meizu 15 offers a more than solid core that is clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. The CPU is supported by 4 GB RAM. Gamers will also get their money's worth. The Adreno 512 offers more than enough performance even for future generations of apps. A strong package with an outstanding price-performance ratio.
An El Dorado for self-fans
The complete package of the Meizu 15 is completed by an absolutely convincing camera concept. Fans of self-photography will fall in love with the front camera from the very first second. With a resolution of 20 megapixels and equipped with an f/2.0 aperture, you can create your own top-quality portraits. The powerful aperture ensures that the face is well photographed even under unfavourable lighting conditions. With Smart Beauty AI, selfies are particularly successful. The camera automatically selects the best settings and, in combination with face recognition, ensures good results.
Hobby photographers get their money's worth
The main camera should be used for even higher quality images. With the Sony IMX 380 and the Sony IMX 350, it offers two powerful sensors with impressive resolutions of 12 and 20 megapixels. The strong duo is also equipped with panels that are perfectly matched to each other. The 1/2.3 inch aperture is a particularly light-sensitive element that captures an astonishing number of details, especially in dim light. The f 1.8 aperture, on the other hand, is perfect for shooting in bright light. In combination, high-quality images can be taken. A 3x lossless zoom is supported. Standard functions such as panorama mode and time-lapse photography round off the attractive overall package.
Apart from the highlights, the Meizu 15 offers numerous other practical features. First and foremost the fingerprint sensor with mTouch sensor. Two loudspeakers at the top and bottom of the device provide musical support. With Bluetooth 4.2 and low-energy support, headphones and smart watches are particularly battery-friendly. The connection to the Internet will be established either via the 4G LTE network or via the home network via current WLAN standards. GPS, GLONASS and Beidou navigation make location services particularly accurate.
