The Xiaomi Mi6x convinces with its 5.99 inch display with 2160 x 1080 pixels as well as a Snapdragon 660, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM, and a 12 and 20 megapixel dual camera. Also included are a 3010 mAh battery, Android 8 Oreo and FaceUnlock and fingerprint sensor.
With the Mi6, the manufacturer Xiaomi was able to trigger a real hype in 2017. The flagship with the compact 5.15-inch screen boasts outstanding performance and a more than powerful battery. The successor Mi6x, also called Mi A2, is aimed at people who prefer a larger screen and are looking for a device for the smaller purse. The Mi6x offers the buyer these two factors - and much more. Both have in common the outstanding workmanship and the good price-performance ratio.
The most obvious change to the flagship of 2017 is the screen. With the Mi6x, this is much larger at 5.99 inches. The Mi6x is therefore more like a Phablet. The high resolution is pleasing for a device in the mid-range price segment. Games, apps and other digital content are played back with up to 2160 x 1080 pixels. This corresponds to a pixel density of 403 ppi. Xiaomi uses the modern 18:9 format for the display, which is also used on the flagships of other manufacturers such as Sony, Apple or HTC.
Apart from the display, the other interior of the Mi 6x is absolutely convincing. The core of the Xiaomi phablet is the Snapdragon 660 processor, which is clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. The CPU is supported by 4 GB RAM and an Adreno 512 GPU. This provides more than enough performance for future app generations and games.
Outstanding workmanship, a high-resolution display and a powerful interior at a budget price. These factors are also offered by other devices from the Chinese manufacturer. However, the camera is a real highlight in this price segment, which will especially surprise hobby photographers who are aiming for quality. Selfies and group pictures with friends will be taken with the front camera which has 20 megapixel resolution and Sony IMX376 sensor in high quality. The main camera on the back, however, offers two f/1.75 apertures with the Sony IMX376 and IMX486 sensors. The result of the interaction of both lenses can be seen absolutely. Due to 20 and 12 megapixel resolution, the dual camera delivers razor-sharp images - even with a bokeh effect if required.
Both cameras are supported by an AI Assistant. Picture Perfect is what Xiaomi calls its technological new creation, which convinces with its many practical features. One of the most important additional functions is automatic scene detection. If the wizard is activated, the camera's options will be optimally adjusted to the current situation. For example, daily shots will be taken with the 12 megapixel lens. At night, however, the 20 megapixel lens with 2 µm pixels and Sony IMX376 sensor will be activated. This captures far more light and provides more detail for photos and videos in dark environments. All in all, the Xiaomi smartphone supports more than 200 different motif scenes and acts accordingly. The Ki-based translation function is handy, which is also available in German.
Xiaomi has given the Mi6x a generously sized internal memory. A total of 64 GB of ROM is waiting to be filled with high-resolution photos, videos, games and other apps. If the memory is insufficient, the Dual Sim slot can be occupied with an SD card with a maximum capacity of 128 GB. As a result, even a lot of photographers should get their money's worth in terms of storage space.
Apart from the big highlights, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is also showing its generous side with the Mi6x. The integrated battery is generously dimensioned at 3010 mAh. With the QuickCharge 3.0, it can be charged up to half in just 30 minutes. Headphones, data cable and charger are connected via USB-C interface. Unlocking the screen is particularly convenient and quick with FaceUnlock and fingerprint sensor. The data connection to the Internet is established optionally via LTE, 3G, 2G and WLAN. The latter supports the fast-paced 802.11 g standard. Smart gadgets, on the other hand, can be connected to the Mi6x via Bluetooth 5.0. The current MIUI based on Android is used as operating system.
