Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
In the spring of 2018, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi presented its fan base with the fifth generation of the Redmi Note Phablet. Traditionally equipped with a larger display, the mid-size model Redmi Note 5 as well offers a screen diagonal of 5.99 inches. Not only the screen, but also the inner mechanism is convincing. With an octa-core processor, a 13 megapixel dual camera and a robust aluminum housing, the device conveys the value of a smartphone flagship such as the Galaxy S9 or the Google Pixel 2.
High Performance, Small Price
First things first.... Performance is particularly important for the majority of smartphone owners. It is understandable; after all, the device should also be equipped for future applications. In the case of the Redmi Note 5, this is 100%! The core is the fast-paced Snapdragon 636 processor, which clocks at 1.8 GHz. The eight Qualcomm Kyro 260 cores ensure smooth experience when multitasking. With the support of 4GB of RAM, multiple and compute-intensive apps can be launched and operated smoothly. Gamers are as well pleased with the Adreno 509 graphics chip, which was also developed by Qualcomm and handles even demanding 3D games effortlessly.
Modern design without large edges
Just like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 5 follows the current trend and largely dispenses with margins on the sides and on the top and bottom. Thus, the front surface consists of a large 5.99-inch display. This is a step forward in particular with regard to housing size. The small-smart everyday companion only measures 158.6 x 75.4 mm. The height of the device is pleasingly small. With just 8.05 mm, the smartphone can easily fits into any pocket. The robust housing made of aluminum is also appealing, but not a real novelty for the premium manufacturer Xiaomi. As usual, the Chinese manufacturer is at its best here. Gaps or similar optical back-turners are not really visible!
Display in 18:9 format
Just like the flagships of the manufacturers; Sony, Apple, Google or Samsung, Xiaomi uses the modern 18:9 format on the display of the Redmi Note 5. With a size of 5.99 inches and a pin sharp resolution of up to 2160 x 1080, digital contents are displayed in absolutely high quality. With an NTSC color gamut of 84%, you can look forward to rich colors. Even direct sunlight is no problem for the display. With a brightness of 450 nit and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, the screen content is always clearly visible. Various screen modes like "Sun" "Night" and "Eye-friendly" will help you to adjust to optimal brightness.
Ideal for hobby photographers
The front and main camera of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 are also impressive. The former will satisfy even the most demanding selfie fans. With 13-megapixel resolution and a Sony sensor as well as the face-lift function, you and your friends will be captured from the best angle. The integrated LED light on the front also presents people in best light. Even bokeh effects that can only be achieved by expensive SLR cameras is possible with the Redmi Note 5. If you want to have more high-quality shots, use the main camera on the back. The dual-cam is equipped with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX 486 sensor. The second camera, on the other hand, offers a resolution of 5 megapixels. The f/1.9 aperture, also, provides sufficient light for the snapshot. Not limited to photos, videos can as well be recorded in high quality. In both Full HD and 720p standard, videos can be rotated with up to 30 frames per second. As well, the main camera is equipped with a LED flash. This can also be used as a flashlight.
Enough space for games, videos and snapshots
In order for the camera to be used extensively, Xiaomi has given the Redmi Note 5 a generous memory with a size of 64GB. A variety of videos, photos and apps can be stored there. If the storage space is still insufficient, you can simply extend it with a micro SD card. For this purpose, the second Sim card slot will be occupied. Also, the internal battery cannot be described as being small. With 4000 mAh a very long operating time per battery charge is guaranteed. This means that the camera can be used intensively even during long trips.
To ensure that your phone is protected from unauthorized third parties, it is always a good idea to set up a lock. In the past, you always had to enter a code or pattern to unlock. This process is much simpler and more efficient with the Xiaomi Redmi 5 note. Via fingerprint sensor, the screen can now be unlocked within a second. The smartphone is also equipped with a precise face-unlock function. The device recognizes the user's face and immediately unlocks it.
Surfing at high speed
Apart from the special features, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 also offers the usual smartphone standards. First and foremost is the 4G LTE FDD support. This allows you to surf the mobile network with the maximum bandwidth. Even high-resolution 4K movies can be streamed without interruptions. A high data throughput rate is also offered on the domestic network. The smartphone supports the WLAN 802.11 a, b, g, n and ac standards. In addition, smart gadgets such as fitness trackers, wireless headphones or smartwatches can be connected to the device. The current Bluetooth 5.0 standard is supported by Redmi Note 5. With the low-energy mode, the battery is protected during the data connection. The location detection is also on the current state-of-the-art. GPS, AGPS, GLONASS and Beidou can be used with the mobile phone.
