Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
In 2018, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi presented its fan community with the fifth generation of the Redmi Note Phablet. Traditionally equipped with a larger display, the mid-range model Redmi Note 5 once again offers a screen size of 5.99 inches. Both the screen and the interior are convincing. With an Octa-Core processor, a 13 megapixel dual camera and a robust aluminium housing, the device conveys the value of a smartphone flagship such as the Galaxy S9 or Google Pixel 2. In addition, the Redmi Note 5 offers the current Miui 9 on Android basis.
High Performance, Low Price
First things first.... For the majority of smartphone owners, performance is particularly important. This is understandable, since the device should also be equipped for future applications. In the case of the Redmi Note 5, this is 100% true! The core is the high-speed Snapdragon 636 processor, which clocks at 1.8 GHz. The eight Qualcomm Kyro 260 cores also perform well when multitasking. With 4GB of RAM support, you can open and operate multiple and compute-intensive apps with ease. Gamers, on the other hand, will be pleased with the Adreno 509 graphics chip, which was also developed by Qualcomm and effortlessly handles even demanding 3D games.
Modern design with less edges
Like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 5 follows the current trend and largely does without edges on the sides, top and bottom. As a result, most of the front surface consists of the 5.99 inch display. This is an advance, especially with regard to the case size. The small, smart everyday companion measures only 158.6 x 75.4 mm. The height of the device is also pleasingly small. With only 8.05 mm, the smartphone fits easily into any pocket. The robust aluminium housing is also pleasing, but it is not a real novelty for the premium smartphones from Xiaomi. As usual, the Chinese manufacturer shows its best side here. You won't find any gap dimensions or similar optical twisters!
Display in 18:9 Format
Just like the flagships of the manufacturers Sony, Apple, Google or Samsung, Xiaomi relies on the modern 18:9 format for the display of the Redmi Note 5. With a size of 5.99 inches and a pin-sharp resolution of up to 2160 x 1080, digital content is displayed in the highest quality. With an NTSC colour scale of 84%, you can look forward to rich colours. Even direct sunlight is no problem for the display. With a brightness of 450 nit and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, the screen content is always clearly visible. Different screen modes such as "Sun" "Night" and "Eyefriendly" will help you to set the optimal brightness.
Ideal for hobby photographers
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5's front and main cameras are also impressive and will satisfy even the most discerning selfie fan. With 13 megapixel resolution and a Sony sensor as well as the Face-Lift function, you and your friends will be excellently captured. The integrated LED light at the front will provide the best light condition. The Redmi Note 5 is also capable of bokeh effects, which would otherwise only be possible with expensive SLR cameras. If you want even higher quality shots, you should use the main camera on the back. The Dual-Cam is equipped with a 12 megapixel Sony IMX 486 sensor. The second camera, on the other hand, has a resolution of 5 megapixels. The f/1.9 aperture, on the other hand, provides sufficient light for snapshots. However, both photos and videos can be produced in high quality. Videos with up to 30 frames per second can be shot in Full HD as well as in the 720p standard. The main camera is also equipped with a LED flash light. This can also be used as a flashlight.
Enough storage space for games, videos and photos
In order for the camera to be used extensively, Xiaomi has given the Redmi Note 5 a generous memory with a size of 64 GB. A large number of videos, photos and apps can be stored there. If the storage space is still not sufficient, you can simply expand it with a Micro SD card. The second Sim card slot will be used for this purpose. Even the internal battery cannot be described as being small. With 4000 mAh a very high operating time per battery charge is guaranteed. This means that the camera can be used intensively without hesitation even on longer trips.
To protect your phone from unauthorized access by third parties, it is always a good idea to set up a lock. In the past, a code or pattern had to be entered to unlock the phone. With the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Note, this process is much simpler and more efficient. The screen can now be unlocked within seconds using a fingerprint sensor. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with a precise face unlock function. The device recognizes the user's face and unlocks it immediately.
Surfing at high speed
Apart from the special features, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 also offers the usual smartphone standards. Worth mentioning above all is the 4G LTE FDD support. This allows you to surf the mobile network with the maximum bandwidth. Even high-resolution 4K films can be streamed without interruptions. A high data throughput rate is also offered in the home network. The smartphone supports the common WLAN standards 802.11 a, b, g, n and ac. In addition, smart gadgets such as fitness trackers, wireless headphones or smartwatches can be connected to the device. The Redmi Note 5 supports the current Bluetooth 5.0 standard. Due to the low-energy mode, the battery is spared during the data connection. Also, the location detection is state of the art. GPS, AGPS, GLONASS and both can be used with the mobile phone.
