Huawei Mate 20 X
Good smartphones are like sand by the sea. Sometimes, individual models do stand out from the crowd and promise to lead the way. The Mate 20 X from Huawei definitely belongs to the latter category. As a superlative smartphone, this technical gem is not just fast as an arrow, but excellently crafted and equipped with the latest standards. Numerous technical innovations can be found here - including one of the best cameras on the market and an OLED display that is yet to be matched. At the same time, the XXL version of the Mate 20 impresses with a particularly generously dimensioned 7.2-inch display and is aimed particularly at gamers.
Top Class with big display
The Chinese manufacturer Huawei has announced its intention to compete with the new flagship. In a direct comparison, the iPhone Xs and the Samsung S9+ have to bow in numerous areas. However, no winner can be chosen in terms of design. The Mate 20 X leaves a lasting impression with its slightly curved edges, the elegant and high-quality glass back and the meticulously arranged camera lenses on the back. The Notch, which is characteristic for luxury smartphones, should not be missing either. The flawless workmanship is noticeable at first glance. It's no coincidence that the Mate 20 X is IP53 certified and therefore protected against water and dust.
The display is equally convincing to every smartphone user, whether or not it is a Notch trailer. It measures a diagonal of 7.2 inches and can be classified as a phablet. With this dimension, the manufacturer is particularly targeting mobile gamers who require a larger screen diagonal. Due to the narrow edges on the sides, which are slightly curved and thus spread a particularly elegant look, an effective screen-to-body ratio is achieved.
Best display in the market
The built-in OLED panel is superior to the conventional LC display and achieves a color space of 148 percent of the standard RGB color range. Technology freaks may now look snippy, as the predecessor model already scored with similarly outstanding values. However, the Mate 20 X has a much larger panel that offers a similar resolution. With a maximum resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels, digital contents are presented in very high quality with the new flagship from Huawei. Despite its size of 7.2 inches, a pixel density of an incredible 345 ppi is achieved. The device also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of brightness.
Professional camera in pocket size
The camera can also be described as a real eye-catcher. Just like the P10, Mate 10 and the successor P20 Pro, the Mate 20 X is also equipped with a strong setup, which was designed in cooperation with the Leica photo specialist. While selfie fans will find their El Dorado on the front with a 24 megapixel lens, the true strength of the Mate 20 X lies in the triple-back camera. The main lens resolves with an incredible 40 megapixels and offers a focal length of 27 mm with an f/1.8 aperture. The setup is supported by a 20 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens that offers an f/2.2 aperture with 83 mm focal length. The 8 megapixel telephoto lens, on the other hand, has an f/2.4 aperture with 16 mm focal length. Due to the strong teamplay of the individual lenses, 5x zooms are possible without significant quality losses. At the same time, ultra-macro shots from a distance of 2.5 cm are possible. This is ideal for capturing filigree details.
Intelligent camera control
The technical specifications of the camera already speak for the quality of the Mate 20 X shots. The intelligent camera control, however, makes it possible to improve the results even further. The AI-Colour function is particularly impressive in this respect. Here, the recognized object is colored, but the background is displayed in black and white. The special thing about this is that it is done in real time and with high precision. Thus, the AI-Colour effect is also implemented in video recordings. It is similar with the background blur. In this case, the background is automatically blurred during video recordings. Apart from these outstanding features, the AI also performs its work flawlessly. Objects in front of the lens are detected in record time and the image stabilizer also benefits from the intelligent control.
Energy-saving and exceptionally powerful - The Kirin 980
Even though Apple is a pioneer in this respect, Huawei is the first Android device to enter the race with the Kirin 980 using a 7 nanometer-based processor. All other chip manufacturers, including Qualcomm's top model, are currently still using a 10 nanometer production process. The result is absolutely convincing. With 8 cores and a clock rate of up to 2.6 GHz, even the most demanding applications will run smoothly and unrestrictedly in split-screen mode. At the same time, this manufacturing method increases energy efficiency. The AI-CPI is supported by 8 GB RAM. Gamers, on the other hand, will be enchanted by the more than powerful Mali G76 GPU. Future app generations will also be unable to exhaust this processor so quickly.
Exceptional even in terms of standards
Apart from the outstanding highlights, the Mate 20 X stands out with its luxurious features. All the usual frequency bands are already supported by this technical marvel. Within known networks, a high-speed data connection is established using 802.11 ac. The LTE network with band 20, on the other hand, achieves bandwidths of 1.4 gigabits per second and is therefore superior to the iPhone Xs. Infrared transmitters as well as NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 are also available. The power supply is guaranteed by an internal rechargeable battery. With a capacity of 5000 mAh, the smartphone is well prepared for especially long days. The charging technology is innovative. The enclosed 40 Watt power supply can charge the battery within short time. The fingerprint sensor is also state-of-the-art. This is located on the back of the case.
