HOW TO - Oneplus 12 - Switch from Color OS to Oxygen OS

A big thank you goes to Chanuk Knarf at XDA Developer Forum. Our version is based on his script. It has just been slightly optimized to make it even easier to install. You don't need Platform Tools or ADB Minimal, everything is embedded in 4 scripts.

It's so simple, anyone with a Windows PC (MAC users can use Parallels Desktop) should be able to do it easily.

IMPORTANT!!! We have created and tested these instructions and use them daily, but we do not guarantee their functionality.

ONEPLUS 12 Oxygen OS Installation

PREPARATION

If you've never done anything like this before, the first thing I need is a few drivers. Before we can start, you need to download and unzip the whole Oxygen OS package.

To install the drivers, we proceed as follows:

  1. In the package there is a folder called "driver" and there you will find the file "New QcomMTK_Driver_Setup_V2.0.1.1.exe
  2. Simply start it, click on the first button (N) and let the installation run through.

The most important drivers are now installed.

Now we have to switch to fastboot mode to unlock the device.  Don't worry, we will lock the phone again at the end, so that Saftynet is also passed and security is guaranteed.

The first thing we need is USB debugging.

1. Activate USB debugging

It's pretty simple and if you're experienced, you've done it a hundred times before.

  1. Opens the SETTINGS APP
  2. Scroll down to "ABOUT DEVICES".
  3. Then scroll down and click on "VERSION".
  4. Finally click 5 times on "VERSION NUMBER" until the DEVELOPER OPTION is activated.
  5. Now we go back to "ADDITIONAL SETTINGS".
  6. Click here on "DEVELOPER OPTION".
  7. Activate the "OEM UNLOCKING" option.
  8. Finally, we activate the "USB DEBUGGING" option

Now we need to activate the Allow USB debugging function and give the PC permission.

  1. Scroll down in the notification bar and change from "CHARGING THIS DEVICE VIA USB" to "ANDROID FILE TRANSFER".
  2. Normally, a pop-up window should appear asking us to allow USB DEBUGGING. We activate the function "always allow this computer" and accept this with "ALLOW"

Now we are ready to start scripting.

2. Oneplus 12 unlock

We are connected to the PC, have allowed USB debugging, now we can start with the first script.

  1. Simply start the file "1.Boot_into_Fastboot.bat"
  2. In the window you will see that you must have activated USB debugging and then you can simply press a button.
  3. Next, your "Device" should be displayed for confirmation and with another click the device boots into fastboot mode
  4. Now we start the second script by clicking on the file "2.Unlock_device.bat".
  5. The device starts in a window that asks you if you want to unlock the Oneplus.
  6. Navigate down with the "DOWN VOLUME KEY" and confirm with the POWER KEY
  7. The device will now restart and should also be completely formatted

3. Oxygen OS install

The device should now have rebooted and be completely empty. Before you start setting up the OS, let's go back to fastboot mode. This time a little differently.

Press the "POWER BUTTON + VOLUME BUTTON UP" and switch the device off "POWER OFF"

  1. When the device has shut down, press and hold the "POWER BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN BUTTON" until the Oneplus logo appears. Then release the "POWER BUTTON" and continue to hold the "VOLUME BUTTON UP".
  2. You should now have loaded back into "FASTBOOT MODE".
  3. Now we can start with the third script. To do this, execute the "3.Flash_OxygenOS.bat".
  4. From now on the script takes over again

Now it should start as follows:

  1. The script executes the boot in "FASTBOOTD Mode", which you will notice when the device restarts and you see a few Chinese characters and "ENGLISH". Simply scroll down to "ENGLISH" with the "VOLUME BUTTON" and confirm with the "POWER BUTTON". You will now see everything in English.
  2. Now the "waiting for device" should have changed to Finished and it asks for confirmation with any key. Confirm this and the script will now install Oxygen OS.
  3. At the very end it boots back into "FASTBOOT MODE" and then you confirm the last command again with a key and the device is FORMATTED.
  4. The device then boots into the system and you now have Oxygen OS

ERROR, WAITING DEVICE does not continue!

Some of you will have the problem that it boots into "FASTBOOTD MODE", but does not continue, it always says "waiting for device".

Here we have a small problem, the drivers are not recognized correctly for this mode. We want to fix this by doing the following:

  1. We open the Windows "Device Manager". There you should see an "Other Device" that has no real driver.
  2. We click on it with the right mouse button and select "Update Driver"
  3.  Then select the second option "Browser my computer for drivers" and in the next window select "Let me pick from a list of available drives on my computer"
  4. Select "Android Phone" from the list and then "Android Bootloader Interface"

The PC should now recognize the device and the installation script will continue.

4. Lock devices again

The device should now have rebooted and be completely empty. IMPORTANT!!! setup once the whole system and go over the first setup, till you get on the homescreen, after that:

  1. Press the "POWER BUTTON + VOLUME BUTTON UP" and switch the device off "POWER OFF"
  2. When the device has shut down, press and hold the "POWER BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN BUTTON" until the Oneplus logo appears. Then release the "POWER BUTTON" and continue to hold the "VOLUME BUTTON UP".
  3. You should now have loaded back into "FASTBOOT MODE".
  4. Now we can start with the fourth script. To do this, execute the "4.Lock_device.bat".
  5. From now on the script takes over again.
  6. The device starts in a window that asks you if you want to lock the Oneplus.
  7. Navigate down with the "DOWN VOLUME KEY" and confirm with the POWER KEY
  8. The device will now restart and should be locked again

PERFECT, you have updated your Oneplus 12 from Color OS to Oxygen OS. Have fun with it.
