TWRP installation

It is important that you have a Mi 11 Pro or Mi 11 Ultra or any Xiaomi device that is UNLOCKED. You can actually always see this when you start the device and a lock appears at the top, which is open.

Before we start, it is best to make a backup, because after the update all data will be gone. There is a backup function in MIUI. Either to the cloud or on the device itself. There it is usually stored in the MIUI/Backup folder and you copy that to your PC and later back and start the RESTORE process.

IMPORTANT! Please pay attention to your Android version. In the scripts there is an install script for Android 13 or Android 14. If you install the wrong one, TWRP will not work. Don't worry, you can still install the correct one over it.

1. Boot into Fastboot Mode

First you download the script that fits to your device. Then you boot your device into the fastboot. Just hold the volume down key + power key until the MITU man appears. Now connect the device to the PC.

2. TWRP installation

Now start the installation of the TWRP on the smartphone with "install_TWRP_Android13.bat or install_TWRP_Android14.bat". The script tells you what to do and after a few seconds the device should boot directly into TWRP.

ATTENTION! If the device restarts again and again, then you must first perform a wipe (delete all data). To do this, boot into the normal recovery (volume up + power button) and select the first option, then the lower option and then the device should be reset.

Now you are in TWRP and everything is in Chinese. We first change it by clicking the second button from the bottom on the right (see photos), then on the globe and then on English.

In Android 13 / Miui 14 TWRP Versions, the injection is also needed sometimes. Please go to ADVANCED and click "Flash current TWRP". Sometimes this is needed. If you boot after the Miui installation and TWRP is not there, just use the script again and click on "Flash current TWRP". With this TWRP stay forever.

Only in Android 11 / Miui 12 -> Now we go back to the first page with the back button and click ADVANCED. This is a special feature on the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra because otherwise TWRP will not stay on the device. We would need to "inject" TWRP. Just click on "Onkey inject TWRP" here. Confirm everything and now TWRP will stay on the device forever.

Rom installation

You can always find the latest rom on Xiaomi.eu and it is best to download the latest rom there. From then on, you will receive the latest versions via OTA update.

How and which one is the right one? Simply go to the Xiaomi.eu page, click on Stable at the top, select 12.5 or newer and then select one of the two mirror providers. There the latest one with mi11pro_mi11ultra or mix4 in name. Top are newer than bottom ones.

IMPORTANT! Always select the one without fastboot (you notice it, because the Fastboot version has in the file name on the end _FASTBOOT written).

1. Data wipe for the first install / NO Data wipe when updating

If you install the Xiaomi.eu Rom the first time, we want to have a clean system. In this case we recommend to make a complete wipe.

UPDATE INFO: If you want to get just an Update, install the Rom starting from 2. Firmware flash and when you are asked at the end to WIPE CACHE, click on it and reboot. All data will be preserved and nothing will be lost.

FIRST INSTALL INFO: First we click on "WIPE" at the top of TWRP and select "FORMAT DATA" and then we write "YES" and confirm that. This will wipe the memory and your smartphone will be clean as a baby's bottom.

2. Firmware flash

Now we need the Rom on the device. For this purpose, it is probably connected to the PC via USB and was recognized by the system. We send the ZIP Rom we downloaded from the PC to the device, preferably in the download folder.

On the smartphone in TWRP we go back completely and click on "INSTALL" in the upper left corner, select the folder where we copied the ZIP into "DOWNLOAD" and click on the ZIP file. Now we just have to confirm the installation and the Rom will be installed.

Done, after about 2-5 minutes the Rom is installed and we can reboot. The first boot process usually takes 5-15 minutes and then your device should be clean, fresh, new and have the latest Xiaomi.eu rom. This one even has a few advantages over the Global one, as it has all the bloatware removed, a few speed tweaks and there are a lot of translations.

IMPORTANT!! Since the last versions an App is needed to have the Google Play Store certified to use Google Pay. The App can be downloaded --> HERE <--

3. OTA Updates

After you have installed TWRP and the Xiaomi.eu Rom, all further updates will come via OTA. That means you get an info that there is a new update, download it and when you click on install, the system automatically jumps into TWRP mode. There it is often installed automatically, otherwise you just click on "INSTALL" select the downloaded Rom and then the installation process runs. At the end just select "WIPE CACHE" and then "REBOOT" the update is done. All data, apps and settings are retained.

As a rule, Xiaomi.eu provides updates for as long as Xiaomi, often even longer.

Help with errors

Not everything always goes smoothly during an update. We have summarized all the important errors made by our customers here and offer you simple solutions.

1. TWRP is gone after reboot

An "INJECT" is probably necessary on some devices. This means that the TWRP must be firmly anchored in the system, otherwise it will be gone again after the next boot. This is not a bad thing, as you can reinstall it at any time using the TWRP script above if you need it. However, since you will probably want to install all subsequent updates with TWRP simply via OTA, you should anchor it permanently.

This is done by clicking on ADVANCED and "Flash current TWRP" after booting into TWRp for the first time. TWRP is then permanently written to the system and should remain there forever.

2. Can't find the Rom

Some customers often tell us that they have gone to INSTALL and then probably jumped too high in the folder and now see the root directories. Now you ask yourself, how do I get back to the download folder? Quite simply, look for the "SDCARD" folder where your internal memory is stored.

3. SDcard folder is empty

If you have a password, pin or pattern and boot into TWRP and then click on Install and see nothing, we recommend booting into the system and removing the password, pin or pattern. A pattern in particular cannot be entered in TWRP and therefore encrypts the internal memory. That's why you don't see anything here.

4. Failed to mount

If you are installing an update or the latest Rom and get the error message "FAILED TO MOUNT SD CARD" or other partitions, this error can often be rectified quickly. Simply return, click on REBOOT and boot into RECOVERY. Then simply restart the installation and it should now work. The partitions were simply not mounted correctly when booting into TWRP for the first time.

5. TWRP Password

If you are asked for a TWRP password at the beginning, you probably have a PIN or password in your system. Even if it is a PIN, you will be asked for a password and this confuses some people. Just enter the PIN and you should be able to get in. The better tip, however, is to boot into the system and remove the PIN, password or pattern and then boot back into TWRP. Makes things much easier.

6. TWRP Touch doesn't work

You installed the wrong TWRP Version. There are TWRP for Android 13 and Android 14. If you install the wrong one, the touch won't work. No problem, just install the right one and everything will work again.
